I Like the Name Charlie
Saturday, December 27, 2008 |11:17 PM

This Christmas break is giving me a lot of time to watch and read and pig out and be with family. This is the life. I have been watching movies, both old and new to me, that stir up different emotions inside. A Christmas Story is funny. Its just a shame I wasn't able to finish it [damn you, Megavideo!] The other night, I caught Mighty Ducks 2 on Disney Channel and its amazing that I remembered a lot of its details. I don't know how many times I've seen that flick before but seeing it again after the longest time is, for lack of better term, wonderful. Banks and Wu, I like you. Haha. Earlier today, I watched It's A Wonderful Life and I am beginning to have a certain affinity to old movies. The black and white facade makes me feel like I have a sophisticated taste in movies. Haha. Then, just now, before writing this entry, my siblings were watching Titanic and again, I am amazed with the many details that are stuck in my head. Also, seeing some parts of it again made me recall how much I liked Leonardo Di Caprio back then. Gradeschool crush. One more week before school starts. That is still plenty of time to soak up as much movies as I can and I intend to do just that.

Toasted Brain
|1:17 AM

Never have I had such a day for school. It began with an 8-minute oral exams with Rosana which was immediately followed by my LS Long Test. My classmates will be taking the exam for 3 hours, I took mine in one. My Philo paper was also due today. Come 3:00pm, lo and behold! Another long test comes my way. After it, he continues on for an hour or so of discussion about Cultural Relativism. I enjoy his lectures and I've no regrets [so far] in taking it as an elective. Lastly, after that is some paper-writing yet again for LS. Now, I have to do another paper due tomorrow then study for another long test this Friday. hay-yay-yay. To ease my toasted brain, sing with me please: Eyes are dry, at the last goodbye, this is the Ateneo way. Mary, for you...Go 'Teneo!

To further ease my very tired self, a joke:
What is Santa's favorite Christmas song?
Answer: Ho-Holy night, the stars are brightly shiniiing...

Utilitarianism

She strapped on the seatbelt and got ready for the ride. She did not know what to expect. She later on found herself underwater, marveling at the beauty of Ariel's world. Surprisingly, she can breathe. Adrenaline rushed through her, exciting is too weak a term. As the end apporached, a multitude of whales was in sight. Then there she was, swimming amongst them while they serenaded her and before she knew it, it was done.

Unlike Humpty Dumpty, she stood on a wall. It was high. Her heart was pounding for there was little room. It was a slim walkway. She looked down while the strong air brushed against her face. It was surely no less than 50feet. She was not typically afraid of heights, but this was different. This was too much. The pool looked like a little, blue puddle. Afraid as she was, she really wanted to jump and take a dip in the pool. It was an unexplainable want that needed to be satisfied. She gathered the courage. She was actually ready to die just to get to the pool. So, she took a leap and apparently, it was not so high after all. There was even a vertical ladder with two or three steps and before she knew it, she was standing beside the pool.

I do not like dreaming but sometimes, those that stick to my mind are worth keeping.

When Santa's Flying in His Magic Sleigh
Sunday, December 14, 2008 |11:10 PM

Last night was beautiful: city and christmas lights, car ride, dressing up, the stories, the songs, "studying," the undeniable similarities and the complementing differences. This is a like-catching-thunder friendship. Just so you know, you are one of the two who bring out the best in me. Thank you and you know I love you.

My mom loves this picture. Merry Christmas indeed. But before I totally bask in their company, I must first wage a war against school. Let's do this.

The 3 C's
Friday, December 12, 2008 |11:33 PM

Kung merong Porter's 5 Forces, meron ding Kim's 3 C's. These three C's will cause the death of me: Coke, Chocolates and Chips. Not a day goes by without me pigging out on these. Pwede rin yang gawing 5 dahil sa cholesterol at coffee. Seriously, I have to rethink my eating habits. My tummy's bigger, my cheeks are flabbier and my arms are thunderous. I don't even want to think about what harm my "diet" is doing to me internally. The repercussions will just show itself later on and yet again, I'm scared. Its time for change. Poco a poco, se va lejos.

My Advent Recollection earlier did me good. With limited time and energy, you can only pray for so number of people and you realize, they are the ones really important to you. Also, talking to the priest gave me a new perspective: there is no such thing as caring too much, just caring in the wrong way. He reminded me of things that needed remembering. This is a good way of anticipating Chirstmas. :)

Anais Nin

We do not grow absolutely, chronologically. We grow sometimes in one dimension, and not in another; unevenly. We grow partially. We are relative. We are mature in one realm, childish in another. The past, present, and future mingle and pull us backward, forward, or fix us in the present. We are made up of layers, cells, constellations.

Really.

I am scared of going back.
